The biggest problem facing the hemp industry right now is the continued interference by the Federal Government not allowing farmers to grow industrial hemp. This means that all American manufacturers have to import hemp from overseas and it’s definitely had a negative impact on our ability to grow the industry.
Vote Hemp was founded in 2000 to work with politicians to allow American farmers to grow industrial hemp. Since then we have been actively working, advocating and educating and variety of state legislators.
Seventeen different states have passed hemp legislation either as resolutions, bills or studies, all seeking to get farmers to be able to grow hemp again. In fact we just had a bill passed through Californian legislature couple of weeks ago and its now sitting on governor Jerry Brown’s desk. We are very hopeful that he is going to sign it and allow for a bigger pilot program in four counties in for California to be able to let farmers grow hemp there. You should gather information about the legality of the best cbd vape juice for the consumption. The conducting of the program is excellent with the information of the people. The information about the legality is made available of different states to the individuals.
We are also working pretty aggressively at the federal level and we have a full time presence on Capitol Hill educating members of the Congress about the issue, going into meetings with their staff and members and explaining to them about industrial hemp; what the products are, what the market is, why it’s such a problem not allowing American farmers to grow hemp which means our manufacturing companies have to import the raw material into this country.
As a result, we’ve been able to get a bill introduced in the congress for the third time. It has introduced by the Republican Congressman Ron Paul of Texas who has been very supportive of the issue. At this stage we have 26 co-sponsors on the bill both from the Democrat and Republican parties. One of the nice things about hemp is that it isn’t really about what party you are in, having a growing hemp industry is good for jobs and economic development.
In the United States, a bill has to be passed through both the House and the Senate which then goes to the President before it becomes law.
Right now we are working on a Senate bill; we have a Senator who has agreed to introduce the bill but we are looking for a co-sponsor from the other party. Our goal is to get a hearing and ultimately to get legislation passed or get a policy change from the Administration involved in the executive branch of the government.
The Obama administration could easily change the policy right now just to allow farmers to grow this and so we are hopeful that through all those efforts we will make progress and American farmers once again be able to grow hemp as they did for centuries.
